Guitars
The guitar program at Fab Lab Stoughton started in 2017 as a way to get girls more interested in engineering courses. The workshop was strictly for girls only. In 2019, we had our first workshop that was offered to girls and boys. As of 2022, around 35 guitars built from blocks of maple and bags of hardware.
Students in the workshop are given creative control over many aspects of the guitar. They get to choose from five different body styles to start. We also offer two different types of wood for their fretboards. The finish of the body is up to the students as well, both in terms of relief cuts and color. Students are also given an opportunity to use the laser engravers in the Fab Lab to engrave into the headstock or body of the guitar.
